My brother has graduated high school (same one I graduated from 15 years ago). You'll see in these photos how happy he looks. I've never seen him beam like this. He's free! He goes off to college (with his adorable girlfriend, below) in September.

He does look pleased.

Graduation is much later where you live. It happened here three weeks ago.

I love this new tradition of the leis as you graduate. I had never seen this until I moved to California.

What nostalgia to think about high scool graduation, and the sense of limitless possibilities.

Thanks to all of you for commenting. High school graduations bring out a lot of feelings, from nostalgia, as Gerry pointed out, to even a bit of a gag reflex for me--remembering high school was not really pleasant. The best part is seeing my brother walk off into the unknown of his future with such hope and potential. It's an exciting time. I don't know how others felt, but I really did come alive in college, and I suspect he will too.
